The short answer
Which SaaS directories are worth submitting to?
Start with the review sites buyers compare on, G2 and Capterra, and the alternatives sites AlternativeTo and SaaSHub, then add niche directories only where your buyers browse. Below are all 41, with the date we checked each and the link type where we could check it.
01Before you submit
Read this before you submit
When to use it: After launch, once you have customers who can write a review. Set up the profiles in the weeks before launch so they are live when people look you up.
Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice now run as part of G2 Digital Markets. Capterra's vendor page sends you to G2's product form. Source: capterra.com (opens in a new tab)
Software Advice's Get listed link goes to the same G2 product form. The free Software Advice profile we checked had no link to the vendor's site. Source: softwareadvice.com (opens in a new tab)
SaaSworthy and FinancesOnline render Visit Website as a JavaScript button, so a listing there gives no crawlable link. List for the visitors, if at all.

How to work this list
Do first
01G2: create the profile from the seller site, then ask your first customers for reviews.
02Capterra: submit through the G2 product form that Capterra's vendor page links to. GetApp and Software Advice are in the same group.
03AlternativeTo: add your app with a free account as an alternative to the products you replace. The Official Website link was followed in our check.
04SaaSHub: free submission. The link is nofollow, so the value is the listing and the people who read it.
05StackShare: claim your tool's existing page for free if developers help choose it. There is no form to add a new tool.
Skip or defer
TrustRadius until you have 100 customers, which its claim page asks for.
Serchen if you want a link: the free profile we checked had no link to the vendor, and only paid ad slots link out.
Top Best Alternatives: there is no submit page, only a contact form.
LibHunt, unless the product is open source.
Any service that offers to submit you to hundreds of directories. Google's spam policies name low-quality directory links as link spam.
How to write the listing here
Pick the category your buyers filter by, even if it is crowded. Make the first sentence what the product does and for whom. Upload real screenshots of the main screens. Then send a short review request with the direct review link to customers who already like the product, follow up once, and follow each site's rules on review incentives.
When in the sequence
Start G2 and Capterra at T-30 to T-22, because they are the hardest approvals here. Submit the rest at T-21 to T-15 so they are live around launch. Ask for reviews in the 30 days after launch.
A site that lists software by category so buyers can find and compare it. Some are review platforms (G2, Capterra, TrustRadius), some are alternatives sites (AlternativeTo, SaaSHub), and some are plain curated lists.
Of the 41 on this page, 20 are free, 17 have a free option with paid upgrades and 4 do not state a price. Paid upgrades are things like featured placement or pay-per-click.
The ones your buyers read before they buy. G2 and Capterra first, then AlternativeTo and SaaSHub for people looking for a replacement. Add TrustRadius once you have 100 customers, since its claim page asks for that.
Many are not. Of the 41 on this page, 11 gave a followed link in our check, 6 were nofollow, 6 had no crawlable link and 18 are not checked yet. Google says links marked nofollow, sponsored or ugc will generally not be followed.
Start at G2's seller site and use Add your product, which opens G2's product form. Capterra's vendor page sends you to the same G2 form, because Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice are now part of G2 Digital Markets. The basic listing is free, and both sell paid programs on top. Then ask customers for reviews, because a profile with no reviews gives a buyer nothing to read.
Before you spend time on a directory, check that it has new listings this year, that a listing page links out to the product (open one and look at the rel attribute), and that it does not ask for a reciprocal link or sell a "DR boost". DR and DA are vendor metrics, and a directory with a high score and no visitors still sends no visitors. The Kit's tracker has all 367 rows of the list we started from, with our status for each.
