Who this is for

If any of this sounds like you, we should talk.

  • Your frontend team is fast and your backend is the bottleneck

Designers and frontend engineers are shipping. The API is slow, undocumented, and breaking. You need senior backend help that closes the gap.

  • You are an agency that needs backend muscle without hiring

You ship great design and frontend. You need a backend partner who can plug in, ship clean APIs, and let you keep the client relationship.

  • You have a SaaS that needs a public API

Customers and partners want to integrate. You need real REST or GraphQL APIs with auth, rate limiting, versioning, and docs that people can actually use.

  • You need to integrate with third-party systems

Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, QuickBooks, Slack, custom enterprise APIs. The plumbing is the project. We build it correctly the first time.

What changes for you

Outcomes you can point to, not features you can ignore.

  • Predictable, documented APIs that your frontend team and your customers can build on.
  • Real auth, rate limiting, and quotas so the next traffic spike is a non-event.
  • Webhook and event pipelines that handle retries, idempotency, and ordering correctly.
  • A database schema designed for the next 12 months, not the last weekend.

What is included

Scope, organized by phase.

Discovery (Phase 1 of 5)

Phase 1

Discovery

What we lock down in this phase before moving on.

  • API audit if there is an existing backend
  • Data model and integration inventory
  • Auth and authorization model design
  • Performance and scaling targets written down

How an engagement works

From hello to handoff, step by step.

  1. You book a backend scoping call

We map your data, your integrations, and your performance targets. We do not write the API spec until we understand what is actually consuming it.

  2. You get a scoped plan within 48 hours

API design choices, stack, database schema, and timeline written down before a single endpoint is built.

  3. We build in 2-week sprints with weekly staging deploys

Every sprint, real endpoints on a staging environment your team can call. No demos that disappear when you ask for the curl command.

  4. We document as we go, not at the end

OpenAPI or schema-first docs ship with every endpoint. Your frontend team and your customers should not have to read the source to use the API.

  5. We hand off with monitoring and runbooks

Alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and 30 days of bug fixes on us. Optional care plan for ongoing work.

API and backend development case study by WitsCode

Case study

SCRAPD and Spottle backends

Problem
Two different products, same need. SCRAPD needed Stripe Connect for marketplace payouts with KYC, payout schedules, and refund flows. Spottle needed a booking engine that handled time slots, conflicts, and venue-side dashboards without falling over at peak.
What we built
For SCRAPD, we built the Stripe Connect integration end-to-end on Supabase with webhook handling, idempotency, and payout reconciliation. For Spottle, we shipped a booking backend with conflict resolution, role-based access, and a real-time availability layer.
Result
Both products went live with backends that handled real money and real bookings on day one, no rebuilds required.

Why us

What you get with WitsCode that you don't get elsewhere.

  • We treat the backend as a product, not a chore

Docs, versioning, deprecation policies, and a real changelog. Your frontend team and your customers feel the difference in week one.

  • Security-first by default

Row-level security, signed webhooks, rotated secrets, scoped API keys, rate limiting, and dependency scanning. Not a checklist at launch, baked into how we build.

  • We integrate with the messy real world

Legacy SOAP APIs, partner systems with bad docs, weird auth schemes, flaky webhooks. We have wired up the awkward integrations before and we know where the landmines are.

WitsCode rebuilt our Shopify store so it finally converts the traffic we were already getting. They understand speed and storytelling in equal measure, and the store has been a real growth lever since launch.
